Heart Evaluations

My husband and I made a decision last year to use these reports for evaluating our children's personal growth and achievements. I swiped them from CHARLOTTE MASON HELP (a great resource, by the way). It is our hope that these evaluations will help our children strive for more than just an A+ on a report card. These questions really get to the heart of the child and help them to examine themselves.

The set up is unique. The parent(s) and child go through these questions together. The child is asked to score himself, give reasons why he gave himself that score, and then the parent(s) gives their opinion and score. Before we actually used this method I was unsure about how the kids would rate themselves. I thought that they might have a problem viewing themselves in an honest light. Not so!
We have been amazed by the answers that we get from both children. They are usually harder on themselves than one would think. In our opinion, this is a much better way for us to assess personal growth and learning than just giving letter or number grades.

At this point in time, we have only used the Character Reports. However, the Progress Reports could be very helpful too. I have posted both.

Hope this helps someone else!
